This Rwandan coffee is from Ejo Heza, a women’s cooperative that is a sub-group of the larger Kopakama cooperative. Located in the Rutsiro District of Western Rwanda, there is a fantastic view of Lake Kivu from the washing station. The Kopakama cooperative is independent and cooperatively (not privately) owned. They’ve been in operation since 1998 and have 775 members, 474 men and 301 women. The women were supported to form their own “sub-cooperative” in 2009.
